Sudden vision loss hit 3 more GLP-1 users per 10,000 over 18 months than two rival diabetes drugs
An Annals of Internal Medicine target trial emulation compared GLP-1 users against two other diabetes drug classes. Ischemic optic neuropathy was more common on GLP-1s, concentrated in men, over-50s and those with eye or heart disease.

High-dose statins tracked less macular degeneration
An analysis of hospital records matched 8,633 pairs of adults with high blood pressure. Those on sustained high-dose atorvastatin or simvastatin had fewer new cases of macular degeneration. Statins in general showed nothing at all.

Moderate exercise tracked 21% less cataract, more did not
In 77,123 UK Biobank participants wearing accelerometers, 150 to 600 minutes a week of moderate-to-vigorous activity came with a fifth less cataract. The curve was U-shaped, and vigorous activity alone showed nothing.

Zinc: uses, evidence, dosing and safety
Zinc has three evidence-backed uses: a lozenge for an adult's cold, a high-dose formula for existing macular degeneration, and children in places where deficiency is common. The daily immune capsule is not one of them.
